Abstract.
The systole of a Riemannian manifold is the length of its shortest non contractible closed curve. It first appeared in the work of Hermite on quadratic forms, but its study really began with the article of Gromov ''Filling Riemannian manifolds'' published in 1983. The aim of this seminar is to present the systole in various contexts (number theory, Riemann surfaces and their Jacobians, Riemannian geometry).
