Abstract.
A major theme in the last 50 years of group theory is to understand groups via the action on some metric spaces. The goal of this talk is to provide a gentle overview of history and recent development, as well as discuss more recent results such as “what can we say of a group that acts on a graph with the property that there is a unique shortest path between any two vertices?”
