Abstract.
The Levi problem is a central problem in the function theory of several complex variable asking geometric condition for a complex domain to possess holomorphic functions with controlled boundary behavior. A necessary condition is pseudoconvexity of the boundary and positive results have been known for strongly pseudoconvex case. The Diederich-Fornaess index is a tool to handle weakly pseudoconvex situation. After introducing classical results, we would like to overview recent progress around this topic.
