Seminario PRIN 2017 "Real and Complex Manifolds: Topology, Geometry and Holomorphic Dynamics"
Abstract.
G2-structures defined by a closed non-degenerate 3-form constitute the starting point in known and potentially effective methods to obtain holonomy G2 metrics on seven-dimensional manifolds. Albeit linear, the closed condition is quite restrictive, and no general results on the existence of closed G2-structures on compact 7-manifolds are currently known. In this talk, I will discuss some recent results concerning the construction of examples with large symmetry group and the existence of special types of closed G2-structures.
