I wanted to draw your attention to the Juan de la Cierva and Ramon y Cajal postdoctoral contracts in Spain, run by the AEI, Spanish State Agency of Research.
Ramon y Cajal positions
For mid-career researchers.
RyC offers a five-year research contract with light teaching duties. Most universities are committed to opening a permanent position matching the researcher’s profile, subject to a positive evaluation by the department, which is to be expected provided the duties of the position are carried out satisfactorily. In practice, it therefore functions as a tenure-track position with a secure outcome.
Eligibility. The PhD must have been obtained between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2024. Deadline. Applications are open from 10 November to 10 December 2026 at 14:00 (Spanish peninsular time).
How to apply. No prior approval from any institution is required. Candidates apply directly to the AEI, submitting a CV and a research project. Applications are then ranked, and selected candidates may negotiate their incorporation with any Spanish university. Each Department in Spain has its own hiring policies and priorities regarding RyC candidates.
