Dear colleagues,
We are inviting expressions of interest for a 2-year postdoctoral position at SISSA at the interface of real algebraic geometry and machine learning, with a flexible starting date.
The position is associated with the project "Can we Learn the Topology of Random Algebraic Varieties?" and focuses on the possibility of learning topological properties of random algebraic varieties directly from polynomial data.
This position offers the chance to work on mathematically rich problems at the intersection of real algebraic geometry, topology, probability, and modern machine learning. While the project provides a clear central research direction, the successful candidate will also have substantial freedom to develop related ideas and pursue independent research within the broader scope of the group.
We would be very grateful if you could share this announcement with potentially interested candidates.
Researchers interested in the position are warmly encouraged to get in touch directly with:
Sebastian Goldt — sgoldt(AT)sissa.it
Antonio Lerario — lerario(AT)sissa.it
Expressions of interest may be submitted via the following Google Form, with deadline May 31, 2026:

Candidates are asked to provide a CV, a possible starting date, and the names of two references.
