Deadline: 15 nov 2015
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant-Associate position in Dynamical Systems tenable from 01 January 2016 or a date to be agreed. Funding for this position will be initially for 12 months.
You will work with Prof. Corinna Ulcigrai and a team of researchers in Bristol's Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory Group. The area of research will be centered on the mathematical investigation of chaotic properties in parabolic dynamical systems and sits at the interface between different fields of research, in particular Teichmueller dynamics, spectral theory of dynamical systems and infinite ergodic theory. Connections with number theory, mathematical physics and probability will also be explored.
Applications made to the on line system should include the following documents: a current curriculum vitae; a covering letter including a brief research statement. This should be about half a page in length and describe in general terms your research and career aspirations and how your track record fits with the areas of research in the job description. Applicants should also arrange for at least two referees to send letters of recommendation directly to pa-maths@bristol.ac.uk.
The School of Mathematics is a supporter of the LMS Good Practice Scheme aiming at advancing women's careers in mathematics http://www.maths.bris.ac.uk/admin/life/women/. We particularly welcome applications from women for this post. The University has numerous family friendly policies which can be found on the Positive Working Environment website http://www.bris.ac.uk/pwe/
It is expected that short-listed applicants will be interviewed via skype in late November 2015.
For informal enquiries please contact Professor Corinna Ulcigrai via email at: corinna.ulcigrai@bristol.ac.uk or for more information on her research please see the following link: http://www.maths.bris.ac.uk/~maxcu/.
