Postdoc position in UAE

created by collari on 23 Mar 2023

Deadline: 30 jun 2023

A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available at the Department of Mathematical Sciences College of Science, UAE University.

The position is funded by the Research grant “Characterization of Quasi-alternating Links” UAEU Program for Advanced Research (UPAR).

The position is for one year with possibility of renewal or extension depending on the availability of funding. Salary is tax-free and will around 10,000AED. The focus of the research is in area of Knot theory. More precisely the use of different knot invariants to study quasi-alternating links. For more details, please contact Dr. Nafaa Chbili (nafaachbili@uaeu.ac.ae), PI of the above mentioned research project.

The Post Doctoral researcher will work under the supervision and guidance of the PI of the project to study the quantum invariants of quasi-alternating links. The expected outcome of this study is to find obstruction criteria for quasi-alternateness leading to the characterization of this class of knots and links. The progress of the research work will be discussed through regular meetings with the PI.

Minimum Degree: PhD in Low Dimensional Topology.

Qualifications: The candidate is expected to have a solid background in knot theory, and precisely has interest in quantum invariants of links and three-manifolds. In addition, he should have a track record of conducting high quality research in the field and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Duties of the Post Doctoral Researcher. The Post Doctoral researcher will work under the supervision and guidance of the PI of the project to study the quantum invariants of quasi-alternating links. The expected outcome of this study is to find obstruction criteria for quasi-alternateness leading to the characterization of this class of knots and links.
