"Research and Study with a Prospect" The University of Wuppertal is a modern, dynamic and research-oriented campus university with an interdisciplinary profile in research and teaching. The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a Professorship (§ 36 HG NRW) in “Complex Analysis” (legal basis: W 3 LBesG NRW). The position will be based in the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The position is to be taken up as soon as possible. Expectations: We are seeking to appoint an excellent scientist who • works in a modern area of complex analysis (e.g. in one or more variables, potential theory, harmonic analysis, complex dynamical systems, complex analytic geometry); • has an outstanding international reputation in this field established through peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals; • represents a research direction with clear connections to the main focus in particular to the working group Analysis; • demonstrates outstanding university teaching skills; • has experience in acquiring competitive third party funding. The holder of the post’s responsibilities include representing the discipline in research and teaching. In particular, the teaching duties involve mathematics courses of the department, including basic education and service courses. Requirements: Besides pedagogical suitability, which has to be proven by appropriate previous experience or, in exceptional cases, demonstrated by excellent performance during the appointment procedure, the applicant is expected to have a particular aptitude for scientific work substantiated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate. Further scientific achievements must be demonstrated additionally and will be evaluated exclusively and comprehensively during the appointment procedure. The requirements for appointment to a first professorship include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad. The successful candidate is expected to actively support academic autonomy at the university.
