11 jan 2016 - 15 jan 2016
Department of Mathematics of the University of Roma Tor Vergata
A Workshop on the "Birational Geometry of Surfaces" will take place at
the Department of Mathematics of the University of Roma Tor Vergata from
Jan. 11 to Jan. 15, 2016. The workshop will start on Monday early
afternoon and will finish on Friday late morning. It will be supported
by nodes of Pisa and Roma Tor Vergata of the National Research Project
"Geometry of Algebraic Varieties" and GRIFGA, and organised by
Ciro Ciliberto, Thomas Dedieu, Flaminio Flamini, Rita Pardini.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers in the field and have a comparison of production in the different possible directions of research. The workshop will have a number of general talks, whose goal is to stimulate further discussions. There will be also a division into three or four working groups on topics and issues chosen by the participants themselves and during the workshop there will be reports on the work of groups. In principle, any topic concerning the theory of algebraic surfaces will be welcome.
This methodology has already been tested and gave excellent results both on a personal level of the participants and at the mathematical level, obtaining new collaborations and results during the same week or later.
